Too much fun!
We are still in Ithaca. Circe is comtemplating turning us into swine or some other interesting Homeric, Jerry's new favorite word, beast. We decided there was not enough cooling water coming from the exhaust, so the new heat exchanger stored in the v hanging locker was hauled out. It looked like a slam dunk, but there ain't, short for ay not, no such thing. Two days later sitting at anchor in the remote harbor of a Greek island, we are contemplating growing to the bottom of the harbor. Actually, there is an old, rundown house on shore that looks very good to me.
We love this place, but we didn't plan on spending the better part of July here. Jerry got some plumbing hose here that he thinks will work to finish hooking up the old heat exchanger which he had to clean using 1 of my knitting needles. The new one, after hours of working to get it on, was found to have a leak. $350 down the proverbial shower.
The next time we do repairs in the largest city in the country with an International airport and a full fledged diesel mechanic with acess to FedX, a courier jet and overnight express!!! That's my new rule, but, of course, a boat only breaks down in the middle of the ocean, and where do these cruisers want to cruise? To remote places with no boat parts. We need to tow an extra sailboat!
It feels like Turkey is thousands of miles away when it is just down the Corinth Canal-hop a couple of Greek islands and around the corner.
Ithaca Folklore Museum. Ulysses watch out! Here comes Jer!
