Leaving????on a sailboat-maybe
Yesterday, we drove the Green Flash (1976 Citroen Mehari) into Rome. I thought he was very relaxed, but he said it was very nervewracking considering he has been tobacco free for almost a month and seems determined to stay that way. I am so proud of him.
Green Flash is living in Mario's dad's garage until we can either drive her to Turkey or we return to Italy. Mario's dad met us at the outskirts of Rome and led us down the back roads into this nice garage in an apartment complex. We said good-bye to Green Flash regretfully. Jerry is having Green Flash withdrawal along with his nicotine withdrawal. I can't believe, yet, that we could have met such good friends in Italy as Mario and Manuela. We are hoping to spend the winter of 2005-6 in Punta Ala which is right in the middle of Tuscany, but if we don't like Turkey, we may come back sooner.
Right now, the plan is to head south this Wed. which is the end of our contract in Rome. Anzio will be our first stop. We have visited the beachhead, but Jerry wants to visit the American cemetery there.
We plan on stopping at the marina at the Isle of Capri even though a slip is golden and then head South to Sicily. We don't have an agenda, but I will try to get my journal out of mothballs and keep you all informed of our progress or lack thereof.
Our love to all of you We think of home often, but still feel the lure of faraway seas. xoxox
