The Little Old Cruisers Who Couldn't Read
When I taught 1st grade, I always read "The Little Old Man Who Couldn't Read" to the children at the beginning of the year so they would realize how important it is to know how to read. Jerry & I have been studying our Italian & French, but whenever we go to a restaurant we have to study the menu for 1/2 an hr & still are not sure what we ordered. Jerry was telling me about the great pate we were going to have & it turned out to be pasta, but it was still great. I have bought furniture polish twice not noticing the little, tiny bug on the label. Grace is bug free, but her teak needs some work very badly.
We have looked & looked for sour cream. Jerry pulls out his little translator & I my dictionary. Today, a sweet little lady tried to help us giving a long lecture on the 0 & the naturale. I still haven't looked to see what we bought. We love the stores with so many new & wonderful things.
Every marina has different fittings for electrical & water. One of the other cruisers hooked up our water for us so today Jerry went to the chandlery to buy the right fitting. When he got back, it didn't fit, so back he went. The gal just unscrewed the end to show another the right size underneath.
Grace is parked in the shadow of a 14th century cathedral along a 14th century waterfront which has made Jerry pull out his paints, but everyday we take long, enchanted walks up & down the steps & streets on the mountainside. The parks & plazas invite you to put your feet up, have a cup of espresso, fresh croissant & dream of pirates & galleons. I smile at the statue of Napoleon as a Roman emperor.
