Archipelago Maddelena
This will be our 3rd night on anchor. We can't believe the wild beauty of this place. If you took Red Rock Recreation area and put it in aquamarine water with little coves and grotesquely twisted rocks, you would have this Italian National Park. It is just off the NE coast of Sardinia. A US & an Italian Naval Base take up part of the island, so needless to say, that part is off limits.
It also has the same polka dot beaches. White sand beaches stretch for miles covered with beach umbrellas. Ferries go back & forth as fast as the Staten Is. Ferries in NY carrying 100's of cars & people to the beaches. Tonight we are anchored at a secluded beach with only 1 or 2 other boats. Last night we had a boat parking lot with huge, unbelievable yachts anchored a stone's throw away from the rest of us plebians. We felt very sorry for the people on them jumping into the ocean only to have a steward waiting with their towel as they emerged. Probably had their cold martini ready as they took a fresh shower & sat down in the A/C to watch a big screen TV. I'm sure they envied us our solar showers, & Grace did make 9 gal. of fresh water today in these beautiful waters.
Jerry & I can just sit for hrs. doing nothing which has never been a habit either of us has developed. We don't read or write-we just sit & look & think. It's stupendous!
Tomorrow, we will check out 1 more cove on the big island then head for 1 of the small islands & the Pink Beach. Today, Jerry checked into the Med-Net so he is 1 happy camper. They have all the news & weather & keep track of all the cruisers in the Med.
