Finally, we have a dual system, 220 to plug in & 110 to run the boat with a great new transformer, a new battery charger, and Jerry has a Nav Tec which tells us everything except how to use our Italian telephone with instructions only in Italian. Tomorrow, at first light, we are sailing north. Now that we are all ready for marinas, we will head out into the beautiful waters of Costa Smeralda, the Aga Khan's country & probably anchor out.
While waiting for our parts, we explored Sardinia. It is a wildly, beautiful place. It would be easy to find a spot & settle down, but you've heard that before. We visited a nuraghi on Monday. They were built on mountaintops by Sardinia's first people. Although, this one was in ruins, we could climb the steps to the top & peer through the slits to watch for our enemies.
Jerry discovered the roads that are marked with a green line are the scenic roads, so we have been taking them. We got on the old road over Monte Alban & soon wished we hadn't. Up & up we went past places where the road had collapsed. Jerry doesn't like heights unless he has an airplane under him. How this road could even be built where it was is testament to man's stubborn ingenuity. We were so-o-o-o glad to get down.
