Still
Here
Grace uses email as a primary means of communication.
We thought there was supposed to be a lull between rainy season and the nor'easters, but Olga seems to be determined to take up the lull. We should be in San Andres; we are still sitting here in Panama with our webbed feet continuing to grow. We get weatherfaxes 3 times a day, hoping-we tune into Herb to get our personal forecast, hoping-we talk to the seagulls and the frigate birds, hoping. Yesterday a dolphin came into the anchorage. This is the first time we have seen that here in Colon where we never even see fish jumping.
We have everything tied down just waiting for some waves less than 8 ft. to come up on the weatherfax. I'm ready to test ourselves against them, but the Captain says, "We're retired! There's no sense in beating ourselves and our boat and rigging to get somewhere that we don't have to be. We get enough of that without trying." My dear stoic.
We have not been off the boat in 2 days-rain, rain, rain. Our new canvas and the waterproofing are working great, but we may have to put Dorky Dinghy in the water this afternoon for an ice and garbage run. We don't need ice while underway when we become teetotalers, but hibernating requires just a little heat. Lifting Dorky off the deck and into the water is a royal pain, however, for which I continue to do my pushups everyday. Surely we don't need such a large dinghy!
I hope our next news comes from San Andres. There is a large cold front coming in from the states, and when that hits our warm water, it could be a real bummer so we may spend another weekend here.
