 Equator conquered

Grace uses email as a primary means of communication.

We crossed the equator at 1720 Thursday, Nov. 2 after 5 1/2 days at sea, 1 day of sailing, 2 days of pouring rain, 5 days with 30 knot winds on the nose. I now know what facing a wave means; Gracie rose to the occasion, literally.

Jerry was a great Poseidon/ green beard, tin foil crown & trident & a bottle of wine brought from Paris 26 yrs. ago for this purpose. Poseidon got the bare minimum to satisfy tradition & superstition. It was great as we held on.

Arrived at Manta, Ecuador 0100, Fri. Nov. 3 with a teaspoon of fuel in our tanks because of high seas & no sailing. Seriously considered heaving to & waiting out the tropical depression that caught us. What an adventure!

Love to everyone-miss you
