We have been stormbound. We sailed in here yesterday in high winds which were great because , of course, you need them for sailing, but they didn't let up along with rain and more rain. We were up all night trying to keep things from shifting around too dramatically with Grace bouncing & slamming. Jerry had put the snubber on the anchor, but somehow, it had released itself. We didn't get much sleep because we were worried about the anchor dragging.
We decided to get up early & get out of this wild & wooly place. We headed out to the beautiful Pacific which wasn't very beautiful today. Twelve to 14 foot waves at about 8 second intervals greeted us. Up one side & slam dunk down the other. Not worth trying to travel. Naranjo Bay even looked good.
We went back to anchor, but this time we decided to try a stern anchor which would keep up bow into the wind so we would be moderately comfortable. My bruises will take about 2 days to develop. I even fell into the bathroom. It took us hours to set the stern anchor because Jerry wanted to put on new hardware then it was necessary to turn Grace around with the dinghy. Our first attempt failed; the stern anchor dragged. The second time was a charm after our second rain water bath; it has rained all day, but now we are sitting with just a 1 hand hangon roll. We just polished off the mahi Jerry caught on the way down yesterday.
Tomorrow we will try a mad dash straight through to the Las Perlas. Oh-oh. I hear rain on the roof. Guess we need that.
